Dr. Jessica Maassen, the founder of Whatcom Audiology, is a passionate audiologist dedicated to providing exceptional hearing care to her hometown community. Dr. Maassen’s journey in audiology began with her bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, with a minor in Audiology at Western Washington University in 2010. She then attended graduate school at the University of Washington, where she received her Doctorate in Audiology in 2014. Additionally, she was awarded the Carrell-Miner Clinical Achievement award for excellence in clinical practice and potential to make a significant contribution to the profession of audiology.
Dr. Maassen believes that mentoring the next generation of audiologists is an essential part of her mission to improve hearing care in the community. With a deep commitment to the growth of the field, she dedicates time to guiding and inspiring students from the Western doctoral program through hands-on learning experiences and professional development. By sharing her knowledge and passion for audiology, Dr. Maassen aims to teach not only the technical skills needed for success, but also the compassion and patient-centered approach that she feels are crucial in the field of audiology.
With years of experience and a deep understanding of the unique needs of her patients, Dr. Maassen opened her own practice to create a welcoming space where individuals receive customized hearing solutions tailored to their lifestyle and hearing needs. She is committed to improving the quality of life for her patients, by helping them reconnect and continue to be engaged in life.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Maassen enjoys spending time with her large extended family and participating in all the offerings of living in the Pacific Northwest. Additionally, you can find her spending time with her husband, Cole, cooking, hiking, traveling, and boating in the San Juan Islands.
